Mustafa Rangwala — Principal Engineer

RF / mmWave, wireless and embedded systems. 20+ years architecting and shipping products across defense, automotive, medical, industrial and test & measurement. Active security clearance — details on request.

Background

Mustafa has shipped products as both a deep individual contributor and as a leader of large development teams — architecting complex systems, designing hardware, writing thousands of lines of production firmware, and root-causing the hard issues others get stuck on.

Today he develops electronic-warfare sub-systems at Anduril — mmWave phased arrays with hybrid beamforming, ultra-wide-bandwidth direct-RF SDRs built on AMD Versal FPGAs and 20+ GSPS data converters, and broadband power amplifier modules. Earlier roles span connected-vehicle systems at Canoo, a fixed-wireless product line at Mimosa, and RF test instrumentation at LitePoint and National Instruments.

Highlights

  • Architected wireless, connectivity & infotainment for an EV platform — programs north of $20M
  • Built and led a 15-person hardware/systems/antenna/manufacturing team; mentored 20+ firmware engineers
  • Authored patents, including a key dual-band backhaul architecture
  • Co-authored an FCC Petition for Reconsideration (ET Docket 13-49) that the Commission granted, relaxing U-NII-3 out-of-band emission limits
  • Designed on-chip 24/60 GHz antennas (65 nm CMOS) at Stanford and a 95 GHz FMCW radar at Michigan

Education

  • M.S. Electrical Engineering, University of Michigan — concentration in Applied Electromagnetics
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering & Pure Mathematics, University of Michigan

How engagements work

For projects that need more hands, FiveFour Tech brings in trusted external specialists as needed — PCB layout, mechanical design, project management and additional development resources — so a small engagement can scale to a full product effort.

Let's talk about your project.
